What we do

LMK’s 10 Signs workshops teach young people to spot and stop unhealthy relationship behaviours in themselves and others, using the 10 Signs framework.

Using short films and scenario-based discussion, our LMK Leaders engage young people in open and supportive discussions, covering topics like ‘consent’, ‘sharing explicit images’ and ‘pornography.’ We also focus on practical skills like ‘setting boundaries’ and ‘breaking up safely from an abusive relationship’. We give young people the tools and confidence they need to speak out, seek help and keep themselves and their friends safe.

Our workshop are free for state schools, charities and community organisations and our formats are flexible. We can deliver one-off sessions, or a series of shorter modules that fit around organisations’ interests, timetables and their existing RSE offering. We also have bespoke workshop formats and resources for SEND young people.

LMK inspires young people to learn about issues surrounding relationship abuse, start conversations in their communities and support friends who might be struggling. We have a Youth Advisory Board and Mentor Programme.

Our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) puts young people at the centre of our programmes. They co-create our content, advocate for youth issues and help steer the future direction of the charity, gaining leadership skills and work experience along the way. Our Mentor Programme (still under development) takes this one step further, upskilling and training the next generation of community leaders. Young people can shadow and train alongside our LMK Leaders, learning how to run workshops in their own schools and communities.

LMK believes parents play a vital role in helping young people understand healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Our parent and carer workshops offer advice and practical tips on how to have conversations around sex and relationships with young people. We discuss the 10 Signs and other relationship-related issues that impact young people’s mental health, but through the lens of a parent or carer, trying to help their child.

We offer guidance on how to spot the early warning signs of abusive relationships, and how to support those who are struggling with relationships in general, whether that’s with friends, siblings, parents or intimate partners. Our workshops are designed to help build family communication and cohesion.

LMK believes that when you have a good thing, you should share it. That’s why we have developed a professional development programme to ‘train the trainers’, sharing our learning with other educators and youth leaders.

Designed for professionals working with young people, ‘How to talk to young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships’, is a half-day, interactive and motivational course designed to help you develop the skills required to have an inclusive, accessible, non-judgemental approach to relationship conversations with young people. By the end of the course, you will understand why relationship education is important and how to teach the 10 signs framework. You will have practiced your approach to having relationship conversations, built confidence and explored the issues affecting young people and their relationships.
